Abundant Life - John 10:10
Jul 09, 2023“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”
- Jesus
Abundant life!! That is what we crave and it has been paid for with the blood of Christ. So why don’t we walk in it? Let’s admit that we don’t have it completely. Somedays are better than others and in some areas we excel but there are some areas that we haven’t broken free to enjoy the abundance.
Breaking free gives the impression that you are bound from something you want to attain. You are hindered from getting to the place you want to be because something or someone is holding you back. In our Christian journey, there are many areas that we need growth. Spiritual growth is a result of our study and attention to what God has to say over and against what the world teaches. The problem sometimes is that we can’t see the lines of demarcation. We want a deeper relationship with God. We want the abundant life Christ died for us to have as indicated in John 10:10, yet we aren’t walking in it. We want to worship God freely but something is holding us back. We want our praise to be pleasing to Him, our stewardship to be excellent, our faith to be strong, our commitment to be unwavering, our love to be unquestionable, His grace and favor to be evident, and our rewards to be abundant.
We start with freely worshipping the Almighty God. When we get into His presence we allow Him to restore us and fix what’s broken in all areas of our lives.
For every mountain you’ve brought me over, for every trial you’ve seen me through…
Worship, an expression of reverence and adoration of God, is a human response to a gracious God. As we consider all of who God is, we bow to His might and power. As Creator, we the created recognize His creativity, intelligence and design. We acknowledge His power and ability to do all things. Nothing is too hard for Him! Nothing He can’t handle. Traversing through history we see God’s provision, protection, leadership, guidance, mercy and grace to those who He chose. Like no other, considering His omnipotence (all power), omnipresence (always present), and omniscience (all-knowing), God is worthy of worship!
Meditate on the following and allow the spirit of worship to overtake you:
- God is faithful! (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 89:1; 92:1, 2: Isaiah 49:7; Lamentations 3:23)
- God is Almighty! (Genesis 17:1; 35:11; Psalm 91:1; Revelation 4:8; 11:17; 15:3; 16:7)
- He is powerful, sovereign, and loving! (Exodus 15:6; Deuteronomy 8:18; 9:29: 2 Samuel 22:33; 2 Chronicles 20:6; 25:28; John 3:16)
- He knows where I am and what I am enduring. (Joshua 22:22; Psalm 31:7; 139:1)
- He’s concerned about me. (Isaiah 54:17)
- I can cast my care on Him. (1 Peter 5:7)
- If I follow His blueprint, I will succeed. (Joshua 1:7, 8; 1 Chronicles 22:13; Psalm 1:3)
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
- In His presence is the fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures. (Psalm 16:11)
